- 17 October 1977 को, HDFC को Public Limited Company के रूप में established किया गया था. इसे Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India ने Promote किया था.
- 1980 में, इसने Loan Linked Deposite Scheme introduce की, जिसमें किसी को HDFC के साथ Passbook Account के साथ begin करना था, जो कि loan के लिए eligible हो गया.
- 1981 में, HDFC ने Non-Resident Certificate Deposite Scheme start की.
